Roberto Benigni

Roberto Benigni



An Italian actor, comedian, screenwriter and director. Is best known for his 1997 Oscar winning La Vita e Bella (Life is Beautiful), which he wrote, directed and played in. From the same movie, Benigni also received the Academy Award for Best Actor and Best Foreign Language Film award.


In his early times in filming industry, he first acted in Berlinger ti Volgio Bene (1976, Berlinguer, I Love You). Later, he continued acting in Il Minestrone (1980), La Voce Della Luna (1989, The Voice of the Moon), The Son of the Pink Panther (1993), and Astérix et Obélix Contre César (1999, Asterix and Obelix Take on Caesar). In 1982 he first directed Tu Mi Turbi (You Disturb Me), a television monologue which criticized Pope John Paul II that made Benigni very famous.
